Lauren Horwood, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’z Office in Sacramento, Calif., said the FBI is lookingt at possible criminal obstruction of justicre violations among employees and executivesat St. Hope, an educationalo nonprofit founded by Johnsonin 1989. Johnson, a Sacramento played for the Suns for 12 yearsx and was elected mayor inNovember 2008. The St. Hope charterf schools nonprofit had been under investigation sincse last year over its use offederak funds. Horwood said the new probe is looking at whethe executives and stafffrom St. Hope improperly deletedf e-mails related to the originao investigation.
She was not sure whether Johnson was still part of the nonprofitt during the periodbeingb investigated. Johnson’s office in Sacramento has told Californiw media there was no wrongdoing inthe matter.
