Conference Board's employment index dips - Pittsburgh Business Times:

The index declined in June, but the declinew was only moderate, according to a release Monday. The index for June is 88.4, a decreasde of 0.8 from the revised May number of 89.1, and a declinee of 21.6 percent from a year ago. “Compared to the beginning of the year, the decline in the Employment Trendzs Index hassignificantly moderated, and we thereforer expect job growth to resume around the end of the Gad Levanon, senior economisg at The Conference Board, said in the release. over the last month, leading indicators of employment weremostly disappointing, suggesting the Employment Trends Index is still seekin g a bottom.
” The Employment Trends Indexz aggregates eight labor-market indicators to show underlying trend more clearly. For the June index, the indicators that declined were the percentage of respondents who said theyfoundf “jobs hard to get,” the numbetr of employees in the temporary-hel industry, industrial production, real manufacturing and trade sales, and job The other three indicators that make up the index are: initiall claims for unemployment insurance, percentage of firms with positiona not able to fill right now and part-time workers for economicx reasons.
