Encinitas, Calif.-based Verve is initiating partnerships with MediaNew as well as other newspaper TheHearst Corp., a minority owner of the Post and most other MediaNews newspapers, as well as Belo and Cox Newspapers, . Verve's business is buildingf mobile sitesfor newspapers. Its CEO, Art is a 30-year newspaper veteran who won a Pulitze r Prize in 1986 as a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquiree for his articles on the InternallRevenue Service. Verve already is workingv with the Associated Press news service as well asMcClatchyy Co., New York Times Regionall Group and Media General, Mediaweej said. Another mobile-news company, Crisp is working with Gannett Co. Inc.

But newspapers nationwide are looking for ways to generatre more revenue from their mobile news feedw through such means as targetedloca advertising. Mediaweek quoted a forecast from the Kelsey Group that locakl mobile ad revenue willtop $3.1 billion by up from $160 million in 2008. The New York Timee Co. has said recently it may start charging readers for news deliverex tomobile devices, Mediawee said.
